This was a big year... a year of the 30-60-90! Grandmama turned 90 in May, Mom/Nana turned 60 in April and Dad/Pop turns 60 TODAY! (8-13) and I turned 30 in July along with Jimmy and Joy! So, the first in the celebrations was Mom's birthday. We wanted to do a surprise, but -- it is beyond impossible surprising the commander of the family -- so we decided to let her in on the secret. We had friends and family come celebrate the sweet woman that holds our family together every single day at Mom and Dad's new mountain house that they had JUST finished renovating. (Nothing like having a Howard Party to make sure your house to do's get done, and get done fast! haha....)
We had a great time celebrating mom. All 4 of the kids, all 8 of the grandbabies were there along with lots of other friends and family. It was a great (and chaotic - ha) time!
Mom, you mean the world to us. You are the rock that holds our family together and we are so thankful for everything you have done, and continue to do for us every. single. day. Thanks for being you!
Enjoy pics of our day (although I barely got any!)... It is hard snapping photos when you have a two year old running around - trying to hang with the big kids... while also trying to keep Mom/Nana from cleaning/doing during her bday celebration!
Nothing screams trouble like James and Adeline together... Haha...
These two are hilariously mischievous. Love them to pieces!
Although it was pouring the entire time - it was nice to enjoy the mountain air on their porch with a roaring fire in dad's new chimney!
The woman of the hour with Pop and Adeline:
Downstairs in the "kids corner" - Gigi set up karaoke.... (big mistake - haha)...
This little munchin was taking that microphone alllllllll the way down his throat, screaming in it. He might have inherited his mommy's singing ability. As in, he might not be very good at it - but that ain't stopping him!
Gracie and Adeline were very graceful and beautiful singers/performers...
They took it QUITEEEE seirously!
All the preggos on the couch... Joy was a month away from her due date... I was really far from hers and Fran was even further. Haha...
Everyone enjoying each other:
Dad promised mom he wouldn't get mushy (and make her cry) so... he decided to hold her in a headlock? :) No, he hugged mom while he welcomed everyone and then said a sweet blessing over the food.
Hugh man is getting so big!!!
So unfortunately - that is all the pics I got from the mountain fun.... But the very next day we went into Greenville to shower Joy.. or "sprinkle" Joy ... with gifts to help prepare she and Hunter for life with a little boy! You know us Howards.... Never settle for one party when you can have two! (Needless to say... I was EXHAUSTED after this weekend! But it was an amazing weekend!)
Here are pics form the shower:
We decided to boy-it-up for Joy since all she has known for the past 5-6 years is princesses and bows. Time for the trucks and tools!
So since this post is so late - Mr. Hunt man has been born. He was born on May 28, and very healthy and happy. His full name is Samuel Hunter Howard, IV and is (obviously) going by "Hunt." Joy is an amazing mama and has made the transition from mommy of two to mommy of three look easy peasy. She is my inspiration when my anxiety level gets beyond high when I try to image life as a mommy of two vs one!
Congrats Hunter and Joy! We love Hunt so very much and can NOT wait to watch him grow and turn into a little boy/man. And, big congrats to big sisters Gracie and Adeline who are both doing a FANTASTIC job of being big sisters!
Here are two pics of Hunt-man I took at the hospital when we went to visit:
We love you Hunt!
